It is the back bone of an Inverter.  Inverter batteries are lead acid batteries, and they are made up of gel or liquid electrolytes, absorbed into fiberglass matt. The electrolytes in most stem-cell battery is sulphuric acid diluted with distilled water. 

Over time, people have experienced their batteries exploding or busting, leaving them curious as to what is the cause of the explosion. When one puts in too much current when charging and adding an ignition source is the only way to get the battery to explode.   • The Inverter Batteries should always be placed in a well ventilated environment. Ventilation doesn't mean your Batteries should be exposed to dust because the battery gets heated up when its charging, therefore turning the accumulated dust to hydrogen gas accumulation that leads to Battery Bursting.
  • Batteries should be used after installation. If the grid supplies is contact, then the batteries should be charged and discharged ones in a week. Keeping the Inverter Battery in a spot without using after connection, weakens the battery and reduces the life span.
  • Avoid exposing the Batteries to direct sunlight.  When the battery is charging it is heated up, in order words, it's hot, therefore exposing it to sunlight will only heat it up the more.
  • Keep Inverter Batteries out of the reach of children. The Inverter batteries are connected with Direct Current (DC) which os dangerous because it has live current flowing through it.  Children are very adventurous, they tend to touch everything they come in contact with that's why its important they don't go close to the batteries. 
  • There are two types of Batteries Wet and Dry Cells. If your Battery is wet cell, it is important that the water level should be checked regularly and refilled.
